Circa 1910. A composed pair of 16 bore game guns. (A/1) is fit with 28 - 1/2" blued steel barrels with 2 - 1/2" chambers and ejectors. (B/2) barrels are 29" with 2 - 1/2" chambers and ejectors. Both sets are nitro proofed with appropriate Austrian proofs. Both fit with machined tapering ribs with extensions and round front bead sights. (A/1) with larger brass bead (B/2) with smaller steel bead and loop for sling. (A/1) Rib reads "WAFFENFABRIK STEYR", with "1" in oval near breech extension. Barrel flats stamped "7927.870.10", "NICHT FUR KUGEL". Barrel bottom stamped "C 16.0","1286g". (B/2) Rib reads "WAFFENFABRIK STEYR", with "2" in oval near breech extension. Barrel flats stamped "7201.927.11", "NICHT FUR KUGEL". Barrel bottom stamped "C 16.0","1267g". Grey patina sidelock actions with traces of case coloring, cross bolts, double triggers, blacked engraved top levers, disk set strikers, and are stocked to the fences. Actions with gold line cocking indicators and unique side lever safeties. "S" in gold beneath safe slides. Actions are engraved with tight scrolls and "WAFFEN FABRIK STEYR" in arched banners. Water tables with evidence of case colors are individually stamped "870-10" and "972-11". Top levers are also numbered "1" and "2" respectively and with interesting and unique engraving of small circular scales and 4-leaf clovers. Thumb pieces reminiscent of fish tails and engraved with circular scales. The guns are built with walnut stocks that are fit with round knob checkered pistol grips, with beaded cheekpieces, and finished with fully checkered hard rubber butt plates. (A/1) is fit with a silver vacant oval while (B/2) is fit with a loop for sling. Both guns with scroll engraved trigger guards with 3/4 length bottom straps. Fully checkered and unique splinter forends have engraved pins, engraved/checkered latch releases, and iron metal. CONDITION: Good. (A/1) Barrels appear to have been cut to 28 - 1/2" as well as renovated. (B/2) with evidence of use and wear. Both sets of barrels slightly off face without forends on. When forends are added they are tight on face. Actions, triggers and ejectors operate well. Stocks appear to have been renovated. Forends are good with evidence of use.
