Austrian made underlever double barrel shotgun made by Johann Springer, Wien, Austria circa 1890. Damascus steel 29" 16 gauge barrels with matted rib, bead front sight, and marked "JOH. SPRINGER ERBEN WIEN/ K.K. KAMMER GEWEHR LIEFERANTEN"; Kammer was a retailer. Case hardened underlever round action with lever made of horn. External hammer back action locks with hammer safety catches, double triggers, and combination horn/steel trigger guard. Action and locks are finely engraved with full coverage vignette pattern. Finely figured checkered walnut stock with cheekpiece, smooth steel floral engraved buttplate with trapdoor engraved "No. 5992" with extra firing pins inside trap. CONDITION: Barrels display roughly 60% of original Damascus finish with balance turning a silvery patina. 60% original case colors with handling areas fading to silver. Wood displays 60% original varnish with usage marks and dings. Good bores and mechanics.
