The North West Canada Medal is a British campaign medal awarded to soldiers, volunteers, and North-West Mounted Police personnel who participated in suppressing the North-West Rebellion in 1885. The medals were issued unnamed and are mostly encountered with private engravings. This North West Canada Medal is privately engraved in block capitals to "PTE. G. CRIGHTON Q.O.R.". The medal displays the Saskatchewan clasp. The clasp was awarded to those present at any of the 3 main encounters during the rebellion. Approximately 1,760 medals were awarded with the clasp. The medal is accompanied by a QOR (The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada) shoulder title. The QOR served with the Battleford Column of the North-West Field Force. CONDITION: Nice patina, good overall.
