The India Medal was awarded for various minor military campaigns in India, mostly for service on the North-West Frontier from 1895-1902. Lot consists of: (A) India Medal engraved in running script to "578 Gunr Sharof Din No 2 Deraiat Mtn 134". The No. 2 (Derajat) Mountain Battery was quite active throughout India and the medal displays the Tirah 1897-98, Samana 1897, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, and Relief of Chitral 1895 clasps. (B) India Medal engraved in running script to "3851. Sepoy Indar Singh 15th Sikhs". The 15th Ludhiana Sikhs were quite active throughout India and the medal displays the Tirah 1897-98, Samana 1897, and Punjab Frontier 1897-98 clasps. (C) India Medal engraved in running script to "4382 Pte. J. Kitchen 2nd Bn K.O. Sco. Bord. The medal displays the Tirah 1897-98, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, and Relief of Chitral 1895 clasps. A tag is affixed to the back of the ribbon with Kitchen's information. (D) India Medal engraved in running script to "2321 Sowar Kheru Singh. 11th Bl Lcrs" (11th (Prince of Wales's Own) Regiment of Bengal Lancers). The medal displays the Malakand 1897, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, and Relief of Chitral 1895 clasps. A tag is affixed to the back of the ribbon with Singh's information. CONDITION: (A) exhibits a dark patina with other medals exhibiting mixed ranges of light patinas. Fair-good overall.
