The India General Service Medal is a campaign medal issued to personnel of the British and Indian armies awarded for various minor military campaigns in India and nearby countries between 1852-1895. The lot consists of: (A) India General Service Medal engraved in running script to "1275 Pte J. Johnson 2nd Bn North'd Fus." The medal displays the Hazara 1888 clasp. (B) IGSM engraved in running script to "2465 Pte H. Rowan 4 Bn Manch R." The medal displays the Samana 1891 clasp. (C) IGSM impressed in small serif capitals to "W. BRODY, BOY. FEROOZ, S.F.". The medal displays the Persia clasp. (D) IGSM impressed in small serif capitals to "PTE 285 W. RABY. 7TH HUSSARS." The medal displays the North West Frontier clasp. The medal is accompanied by a small excerpt regarding the verification of Raby's medal and clasp, as well as service history of the 7th Hussars, which was the only cavalry unit that received the North West Frontier clasp. (E) IGSM impressed in serif capitals to "497 PTE. J. HODGES, 55TH FOOT." The medal displays the Bhootan clasp. Copy of records included. (F) IGSM engraved in capitals to "2064. SERGT. C. ANDREWS. 4/K.R. RIF: C." The medal displays the N.E. Frontier clasp. CONDITION: All medals exhibit tags with info on reverse of ribbons. Medals exhibit a varying light patina. Good-very good overall.
