The Afghanistan Medal was awarded to members of the British and Indian armies who served during the Second Afghan War, 1878-1880. The lot consists of: (A) Afghanistan Medal engraved in sloping serif capitals to "733. PTE. D. SAMPLE. 92ND HIGHRS". David Sample is listed in included records as a member of the 92nd (Highland) Regiment Of Foot. This medal displays clasps for Kandahar, Kabul, and Charasia; the 92nd regiment was present at all of these battles during their hard fought service in the Second Afghan War. CONDITION: Light patina, good overall. (B) Afghanistan Medal engraved in sloping serif capitals to "938. CORPL W. PORTEOUS. 92ND HIGHRS". William Porteous is listed in included records as a member of 92nd (Gordon Highlanders) Regiment of Foot. This medal displays clasps for Kabul and Charasia. CONDITION: Good overall.
