The India General Service Medal (1909) was awarded for campaign service on the Indian frontiers and elsewhere. The bars detailed the recipient's service, as the medals were not issued without bars. The lot consists of: (A) India General Service Medal engraved in running script "2982 Sepoy Rusmat Khan 57th Rifles F.F." Khan is listed as a member of 57th Wilde's Rifles (Frontier Force) and is listed as dead 28/10/1914. The medal displays the North West Frontier 1908 clasp. (B) India General Service Medal engraved in running script "4466 Sepoy Partab Singh 59th Rifles". There is a Partab Singh in the records is listed as a member of 59th Scinde Rifles (Frontier Force) and is listed as died of wounds 12/08/1915, however the SN is different. The medal displays the North West Frontier 1908 clasp. (C) India General Service Medal impressed in sans-serif capitals "1363 DVR. ALI SHAN. 83 L.T. CORPS" Shan does not immediately appear in the records. The medal displays the Mahsud 1919-20 clasp. (D) India General Service Medal impressed in sans-serif capitals "769484 PTE. E.W. EVANS. R. SUSS. R." Evans is listed in the records as a private with the Royal Sussex Regiment. The medal displays the North West Frontier 1930-31 clasp. (E) India General Service Medal impressed in sans-serif capitals "D-33668 PTE. J. OMEARA, 1.K.D. GUARDS." O'Meara is listed as a private in the 1st King's Dragoon Guards. The medal displays the Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 clasp which is authorized in the records. CONDITION: Medals exhibit a nice patina. Good overall.
