The Afghanistan Medal was awarded to members of the British and Indian armies who served during the Second Afghan War, 1878-1880. The lot consists of: (A) Afghanistan Medal engraved in sloping serif capitals to "1066. PTE J. PARKER, (I) 2/60TH FOOT". John Parker is listed in included records as a member of 2nd Battalion 60th (The Kings Royal Rifle Corps) Regiment of Foot. This medal displays clasps for Kandahar and Ahmed Khel. The regiment was a very active unit in the British Army and saw action in Afghanistan. CONDITION: Good overall. (B) The Kabul to Kandahar Star was was awarded to those British and Indian troops who participated in the 320 mile march from Kabul to Kandahar in Afghanistan between August 9-31, 1880 and made from the bronze of captured cannons taken from Ayub Khan at the Battle of Kandahar. This example is impressed in san serif capitals to "2174 BUGLER ROBT HARRIS 2/60 FOOT". Harris does not immediately appear in the records. CONDITION: Good.
