The Canada General Service Medal was a campaign medal awarded by the Canadian Government to regular and colonial forces for duties related to the repelling the Fenian raids between 1866-1871. The lot consists of: (A) Canada General Service Medal engraved in upper and lower case roman capitals to "Capt. & Qr. Mr. C.E. Holiwell. Que. G.A." Inscribed guide line visible, rank in gothic script. Holiwell does not immediately appear in the records, but his rank and position should be easy to research. The medal displays the Fenian Raid 1866 and 1870 clasps. CONDITION: A tag is attached to the back with Holiwell's name. Nice patina, good overall. (B) Canada General Service Medal engraved in upper and lower case roman capitals to "Pte. J. Hickey. Que. R." Inscribed guide line visible. Hickey does not immediately appear in the records. The medal displays the Red River 1870 clasp. CONDITION: Nice patina, good overall.
