Barrels with replaced twin plastic beads, solid concave tapering game rib with vacant space reading "W. Eblen, Stuttgart". Barrels with "SPECIAL - GEWEHR - LAUF - / STAHL" steel designations, triple interlocking rings for Krupp, and "FRIED. KRUPP. A.G. / ESSEN". Light beaded decoration at breeches, with "J.P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" with standing hunter touchmark at rib, relieved for sideclips. Barrel flats with German proofs for a 16 gauge nitro proofed gun made in July of 1939. Case colored island screwed to underside of rib with stud for sling bow. Forearm with very lightly schnabled ebony inlaid tip, point pattern checkering, and a Deely style latch release with case coloring. Iron engraved with scroll and geometrics. Underside of barrel tubes with faint S proof, "293850", and a crown eagle proof. Case colored boxlock action with cocking indicators, side clips, Greener crossbolt, and delicate engraving of a pointer alerting on a pheasant right side with a fox considering a duck that is mid-takeoff, and J.P. Sauer information on bottom. Accenting wrigglework and scroll throughout. Safety does not move. Double triggers are protected by a short tang scroll engraved trigger guard. Somewhat streaky and nicely figured reddish walnut stock with sidepanels, point and wave pattern checkering about the Prince of Wales grip, a vacant oval inlaid in toeline, and sling swivel on stud on toeline. 2 piece skeleton buttplate with case coloring and scroll engraving. Housed in an associated Winchester green canvas wrapped case with repeating "WINCHESTER" monogram and leather tabs. CONDITION: Overall excellent. Barrels retain virtually all of the bluing with some handling marks and field marks that are starting to silver, mostly around where forearm makes contact. Beads are likely replacements. Stocks are excellent with sharp checkering, wood is proud to metal. Metal retains significant amounts (approximately 50-60%) of case coloring with crisp engraving. Mechanically fine excepting ejectors which do not fire, bores are excellent. Ejectors are in time. Case very good as associated.
