Lot consists of: (A) British Royal Navy mounted medal group named to Chief Shipwright Ernest J. Monk. Monk's medal bar consists of his China War Medal impressed "E.J. MONK. SHIPT., H.M.S. ORLANDO.", 1914-15 Star named on reverse "340994, / E.J. MONK, / CH. SHPT. R.N.", War Medal impressed "340994 E.J. MONK, CH. SHPT. 2 R.N.", Victory Medal "340994 E.J. MONK. CH.SHPT.2 R.N.", and Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (King Edward VII version) impressed "340994 E.J. MONK. CARP. MATE. H.M.S. SNIPE". According to consigner notes, all medals are verified. During the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, sailors from HMS Orlando formed part of the force that attempted to relieve the British Legation in Beijing and the HMS Snipe was a shallow draught 85-ton steamer. CONDITION: Medals exhibit varying patina with clear impressions and scattered blemishes to medals and ribbons. (B) Royal Navy mounted medal group named to Sub Lieutenant Robert G. Burgess, Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve. Burgess' medals consist of his War Medal, impressed "S.LT. R.T. BURGESS. R.N.V.R", Victory Medal impressed "S.LT. R.G. BURGESS. R.N.V.R.", and Special Constabulary Long Service Medal impressed "ROBERT G. BURGESS". Burgess served with the Anson Battalion of the 63rd Royal Naval Division. The Anson battalion accumulated a substantial combat record during World War I. CONDITION: Medals exhibit a varying patina with scattered blemishes.
