A nicely mounted British medal group named to Sapper Louis Hughes. The bar consists of his Military Medal, impressed in small sans-serif capitals "446316 SPR.: A.CPL-L. HUGHES. R.E.", 1914-15 Star named on reverse "701 SPR. / L. HUGHES. / R.E.", War Medal impressed "701 A. CPL. L. HUGHES. R.E.", and Victory Medal impressed "701 A.CPL L. HUGHES. R.E.". Sapper Louis Hughes served in the 439 Field Company, Royal Engineers, during World War I. According to included records he is listed under both service number 701 and 446316. Hughes is confirmed to have received the Military Medal "for bravery in the Field" and the award was announced on page 6018 in Gazette issue 31338 on 13 August 1919. CONDITION: The Military Medal exhibits slight tarnishing on the obverse. Nice patina. Good overall.
