The Queen's South Africa Medal is a British campaign medal awarded to who served in the Second Boer War in South Africa. The lot consists of: (A) Queen's South Africa Medal impressed in narrow sans-serif capitals to "2600 CORPL: W.L.L PALMER. LOCH'S HORSE". The medal displays the Diamond Hill, Johannesburg, Orange Free State, and Cape Colony clasps. Palmer is listed as slightly wounded on 5/26/1900 while serving with the Ross Machine Gun Battery. CONDITION: Good overall. (B) Queen's South Africa Medal impressed in narrow sans-serif capitals to "5216 PTE D. WEIR. GORDON HIGHRS:". The medal displays the Relief of Ladysmith and Elandslaagte clasps. Weir is listed as wounded at Elandslaagte on 10/21/1899. Tag with info affixed to reverse ribbon. CONDITION: Nice patina, good overall. (C) Queen's South Africa Medal impressed in narrow sans-serif capitals to "3673 PTE G. ALLEN, S. WALES BORD." The medal displays the Johannesburg, Driefontein, Paardeberg, and Relief of Ladysmith clasps. Allen is listed as Died on Duty on 6/18/1900. CONDITION: Good overall. (D) Queen's South Africa Medal impressed in narrow sans-serif capitals to "4457 PTE J. SMITH, MANCHESTER REGT". The medal displays the Belfast and Defence of Ladysmith clasps. This is an early "Type B" medal with Britannia's wreath pointing towards the "R" in Africa and ghost dates of "1899-1900". Smith is listed as Slightly wounded at Bergendal on 5/22/1900. CONDITION: Good overall.
