According to the consignor this was the last reproduction Gatling produced by Mike Suchka circa 2018. This faithful reproduction features 10 blued round to octagon barrels chambered in the iconic .45-70 cartridge. A 2008 dated reproduction 216 round Broadwell drum is provided for feeding. The frame of this battery gun is matte black steel with a brilliantly polished brass body and brass mounts. A brass data plate on the body reads "GATLING'S BATTERY GUN / WOODSFIELD, OHIO / MODEL 1878 / CALIBER .45-70 GOVERNMENT / VALLEY ENGRAVING LLC / SERIAL NO. 2009-006 / 006". Simple brass blade front sight and u-notch rear sight, with adjustments built into the the mount. This fine gun is mounted to an equally fine field carriage custom built by Uncommon Arm's master carriage builders. The carriage features solid, semi-gloss finished oak construction with polished brass and black finished steel mounts, rolling on a pair of 53" ash spoked wheels with steel tires. CONDITION: Excellent, presenting extremely well overall. Barrels retain virtually all of their lustrous blued finish. Brass remains in an attractive state of polish with some polishing marks visible. Bores are bright and shiny, showing well defined rifling throughout. Mechanically fine. Carriage is very fine, showing some paint loss on the tires. A very attractive full size reproduction Gatling Battery Gun and mount that would make a fantastic statement piece in any large gun room and at the range.
