Circa 1903, probably August or July; see "Webley & Scott Automatic Pistols" by Gordon Bruce, pg. 60. Matching full or partial numbers observed on front of cylinder, right holster guide, interior of both grip scales, frame under grips, and on some small parts visible when grips are removed. Correct integral front sight, U notch rear sight integral to latch. Top rib marked: "P. WEBLEY & SON. LONDON & BIRMINGHAM", left side of top strap with " "WEBLEY FOSBERY" ". Frame with Webley & Scott winged bullet logo on left side, "38 AUTOMATIC"; serial number on right. Appropriate proofing throughout, including chamber proofs and frame proofs. 2 piece wooden grip scales with checkered panels, left with "SAFE" insert, visible when gun is on safe and covered by lever when on fire. Rotatable lanyard loop on stud. CONDITION: Overall very good+, retaining virtually all of the factory blue finish with some silvering to high edges and marks from handling and operation throughout; most offensive a small collection of marks on right side of frame. Some browning coming up through bluing. Latch and rear strap show more use from use, with both showing a heavy gunmetal grey mixed with some brown patina on backstrap. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with sharp rifling. A top quality example.
