Manufactured circa 1867-1870s as an improved version of the 1865 Navy rolling block pistols, with the main difference being a shorter 7" barrel, chambering of .50 Centerfire over rimfire, and the addition of a trigger guard. Top of barrel near breech is inspection marked "I / H E / (anchor)". Left side of grip bears "HN" cartouche (Henry Nettleton). Right side of frame is marked "P / F.C.W.". CONDITION: Very good for its age, with most of the original bluing on barrel turned a speckled blue-gray patina, and traces of bright original finish visible. Frame retains faint traces of original case color in protected areas, but mostly a gray patina. Forearm and grip are very good, with handling marks throughout and no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is bright with sharp rifling.
