Based on John Moses Browning's iconic design, some 7,500,000 Winchester 1894 and 94 rifles have been produced over the last 129 years, with this example among the very first rifles made in 1894. The rifle is fit with a blued 26" octagon barrel roll marked with a 2-line address and chambered in .38-55 with a globe front sight, semi-buckhorn rear, and full length magazine tube. Stocked in plain walnut with a crescent rifle butt plate and steel nose cap. CONDITION: Fine. Significant amounts of the factory applied blued finish are retained with the balance thinning to an honest plum patina. Traces of fire blue present on loading gate with a few flashes of case color visible on the hammer. Vise marks present on the barrel at the breech. Stocks are good showing some bruises and impressions, remaining very serviceable overall. Rear tang screw is a possible replacement. Good, lightly frosted bore with defined rifling and a few pits. Mechanically fine. A wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the first Winchester 1894s off of the assembly line.
