Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1871. Blued Winchester 2-line address with King's Improvement marked 24" octagon barrel in .44 Henry with blade front sight, notched adjustable Winchester flip rear sight, and Winchester tang Vernier sight. Special order factory sling swivels. John Ulrich style engraved Third Model action with plain trigger and full magazine. Walnut numbered stocks with brass crescent trap buttplate numbered to gun with original Winchester 4-piece steel cleaning rod missing. Lower tang marked with "S" and "XX" stampings on left lower tang under wood and "JF" stamping possibly John Ulrich's engraving. Comes with period leather sling. CONDITION: 30% original barrel blue with most showing a plum brown patina. Barrel has some nicks and dings along with magazine tube. Brass has uncleaned patina with a mellow gold appearance. 70% original finish remaining with usage dings and marks. Good bore and mechanics.
