Circa 1888. Dovetail lump barrels with matted solid concave game rib, engraved towards chamber with "W.W. Greener 68 Haymarket London. Winners At All Gun Trials 1875 to 1889." and "Patent Treble Wedge Fast". Extractors. Underside of barrel tubes with matching serial number, proofs, "WWG", barrel flats with proofs for a 28 gauge choked Birmingham gun; no nitro proof observed. Diminutive splinter forearm with matching serial number on interior iron, horn forearm tip, Deely style latch release, and point pattern checkering. Boxlock action with "W.W. GREENER" on either side of action with basketweave engraving, Greener safety and crossbolt, action flats with Birmingham proof, serial number, and elephant; striker face with W.W. Greener patent 930. Trigger guard protects double triggers, serial number at tang. Pistol grip stock with point pattern checkering at wrist, horn buttplate. Housed in an old leather Gilbert Leg of Mutton case with brass lock, tag has previous owners information and a warning "Do Not Touch". CONDITION: Good as well-used in the field. Barrels with majority of their blue, slightly more than half, with losses at normal carry points and towards muzzles. Forearm very good, some minor handling marks but no major cracks or chips; metal essentially dove grey on exterior, interior with vivid case colors. Action essentially dove grey, stocks somewhat dry with some handling and usage marks from the field, one crack on left side panel from rear of action to safety. Bores are frosted but free of major pitting. Mechanically fine. Case has heavy age related distress with lid detached. Leather fragile, exercise caution. A great option for upland game.
