3rd model rifle shipped August 14, 1885. Standard 24" blued octagon barrel chambered in .38-40 fit with sporting sights and a full length magazine tube. Top flat is roll stamped with 2 line address with additional ".38 CAL" designation near the breech. Case hardened receiver, lever, and hammer. Stocked in plain walnut with a straight grip, shotgun butt, and plain forend with nose cap. The buttstock has a set of carved initials, a shield, what appears to be a planetary chart, and a row of "kill mark" notches. Included Cody Factory Research verifies all factory options. CONDITION: Very fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain the vast majority of their factory blue, staring to drift to a plum patina in some areas, with some high edge silvering, freckling, and minor spots of cleaned oxidation. The receiver likewise retains significant portions of original case colors with some expected muting and patina. The elevator exhibits an untouched mellow patina. Stocks show some minor bumps and bruises throughout, with one larger abrasion at the wrist, remaining in overall very good condition. Fine, bright bore displaying sharp rifling. Especially fine mechanics. A nice special order '73.
