Aside from a small "S" on inside of slide and a heavily stamped "15" on right side of the dust cover, this gun is completely unmarked. Careful measurements of the frame and inspection of the normally stamped areas reveals no tampering, leading to the conclusion that this is a true "lunch box" gun, so-named as urban lore is that the parts would be smuggled out in lunch boxes and then assembled outside the factory. Half moon front sight, square notch flat top rear sight. Small parts comprise early milled relief cut slide release, thin tab relieved safety, short 1911 grip safety, long milled trigger, checkered magazine release, and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond patterned checkered walnut grips. Barrel is marked "COLT .45 AUTO" on hood. "15" stamp is heavy handed and not factory applied. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the period blued finish with minor losses to edges and high points, thinning to brown in some areas. Frame has a different and more factory-like appearance, but unclear. Straps with heavier losses to operational areas such as top of strap; grip safety with some peppering under the bluing, probably a replacement. Grips are excellent with minor handling marks. Mechanically fine, bore excellent with strong rifling and minor abrasions.
