Savage slide with left side of slide having appropriate 3 line patent information with Savage "S" in flaming bomb. Right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Barrel has "P / H" on hood, a horizontal T on left lug, and 5 in front of lug. Colt frame with normal legends. Small parts comprise early relief mill cut slide release, relief mill cut safety, checkered magazine release, checkered spurred hammer, short grip safety, flat smooth mainspring housing with with lanyard loop, long smooth milled trigger. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. 2-tone dual pinned base magazine with lanyard loop. CONDITION: Good, retaining the approximately 40% of the factory bluing with slide wear consistent with holster wear. Silvering to reciprocating areas, high edges, and grip safety pin from improper removal. Grip straps are essentially dove grey. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with softened rifling. Clawson wrote that while Savage never produced complete firearms, some slides were taken post-War for rebuilds and others were possible used commercially.
