Animal hide covered Springfield Model 1884 with receiver made at Springfield Armory in 1879. 23" blued barrel in .45-70 Government with no sights. U.S. Springfield marked lock with low arch breech, single trigger and replaced brass hammer screw. Gun is a reworked Model 1873. Entire stock is covered in American Indian style with rawhide coating and stitching with brass nail designs typical of American Indian weapons. Rifle appears to be American Indian modified but of an unknown period. CONDITION: Overall good with visible metal showing surface pitting and discoloration. Covering is in excellent condition with no rips or tears. Dark bore with functioning mechanics. An excellent display piece.
