Standard configuration P.38 manufactured by Mauser in 1944. The left side of the slide is stamped "P.38" followed by Mauser's clandestine code and year of manufacture "byf/44" and the serial number. Right side of slide bears a "(Eagle)/ WaA135" waffenamt on either side of an eagle firing proof. Metal components are salt blued, while the frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved polymid 6 grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame and slide. Barrel and locking block are unusual in that it is numbered "48 / z", which is the following serial number block and the last 2 digits of the serial number on the frame and slide. Wear on the barrel is consistent with the wear on the slide. Pistol is accompanied by "CXB / 4" marked brown pigskin leather holster, as well as 2 additional magazines. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting edge wear, as well as scattered areas of thinning and wear overall that show through to gray patina. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered nicks and minor marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine. Holster shows areas of mild to moderate crazing, as well as minor age related cracking overall.
