Shipped from the Winchester warehouse September 15, 1904. Fit with a scarce blued nickel steel 22" tapered octagon barrel, one of only 2,252 rifles with this length, chambered in .30-30 WCF. Factory mounted Lyman blade front sight and Lyman leaf rear, with an additional tang mounted peep sight. 3/4 length magazine tube and takedown receiver. Scarce I-pattern checkered plain grain walnut pistol grip butt stock with hard rubber Winchester grip cap and shotgun butt. Matching checkered walnut forend with blued steel cap. Accompanied by a copy of a 2005 Cody Records Office research letter confirming options, with the peep sight not listed. CONDITION: Near excellent. Bountiful amounts of factory blue are retained, with some thinning present on the receiver. The loading gate likewise retains the majority of its nitre blue. Approximately 50% bright case colors on lever, the balance faded to a dove gray patina. Stocks are fine showing some light scattered impression, with a few minor bruises on the left side near the upper tang. Buttplate is sharp, having some light edge wear. Excellent mirror bore displaying razor sharp rifling throughout. Mechanically fine. Matching "19356" assembly numbers observed on the tang and stock channel.
