Engraved Fourth Model Winchester 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine built by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1889. 20" blued round Winchester Steel barrel in .44 Rimfire with Winchester address and King's Improvement markings, inverted "V" front sight, and carbine style graduated flip rear sight. Brass frame appears period engraved in the Ulrich style with floral scene and window pattern, no engraver signature. Tang is marked with assembly number of 225; stock and engraved carbine style buttplate are unnumbered. Action has full length blued tubular magazine with plain trigger, original saddle ring, and elevator engraved "44 CAL". Standard plain walnut carbine butt with matching plain forearm. One of the few Model 1866 Winchester's that will letter; unfortunately, Cody Research only lists carbine form and warehouse arrival date. CONDITION: Metal has worn to a silvery patina with some light corrosion marks. Brass remains unpolished with a golden patina appearance and clear engraving. Loading gate retains traces of original blue. Wood has traces of original finish with light usage marks. Fair bore with visible rifling and strong mechanics.
