Model 1900 American Eagle Luger manufactured by DWM under contact for the US military's 1901 test trials. This pistol, having been delivered in the first batch of pistols delivered to the U.S. military, bears the US Great Seal over the chamber, with a highly unusual flaming bomb ordnance stamp on the left. The right side of the frame is stamped "J.T.T." just forward of the trigger, indicating inspection by Captain John T. Thompson. Toggle bears the intertwined DWM monogram. Major metal components are rust blued, while some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, grip safety, and barrel. Breechblock and toggles are matching via 2 digits "25". Magazine is a replacement, with the wood bottom having been repaired at one time. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their period blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patina, as well as a few spots of cleaned oxidation, all of which are synonymous with a trials Luger. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear, with worn areas showing through to age related discoloration. Mirror bore, exhibiting mild pitting and well defined rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and some scattered nicks to the diamonds, but are otherwise sturdy and serviceable. An extremely rare and highly unusually marked DWM Model 1900 American Test Trials Luger.
