German World II Heer unissued "Sumpftarn" (water or marsh pattern) camouflage pullover smock, commonly referred to by collectors as a sniper smock. The smock is marked "RB NR 0/1001/0219" (a common maker of these smocks known to originate in Vienna) and "II" for medium size. The markings are present in the standard location of the underside of a pocket access slot flap. The smock is made from single-sided camouflage fabric in a rayon blend with the inside presenting the natural rayon color. The example does not have the thin rayon face veil present inside the lightweight rayon hood, and never did as there is no sign of one having been sewn in. Both pocket access flaps are present as well as the armpit openings. Full length original drawstring is present and laced through its machine sewn eyelets. Two fieldgray glass buttons on each cuff, with an adjustable tab. Interestingly one cuffed is finish with a stitch line and the other is not. No visible damage other than a couple of loose threads, and with only very light storage wear. A desirable textbook smock in unissued condition, which is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. CONDITION: Excellent plus. WEZ
