Manufactured in 1872. Carbine barrel with traditional New Haven address chambered for the .44 Henry flat cartridge. Proper and correct 2 position folding carbine rear sight. Brass crescent buttplate with trap for cleaning rods (an original carbine length Winchester metal sectioned cleaning rod is included). 2 piece straight grained American walnut stocks. Stock is initialed "S.H." near buttplate. 3rd model variation receiver with saddle ring. CONDITION: Very good for its age, with barrel showing evidence of cleaning and a protective layer of added brown-gray patina. Receiver and buttplate exhibit an untouched mellow patina. Loading gate, lever, and hammer are all turned a gray patina. Stock and forearm are very good with handling marks throughout, a protective additional layer of finish added, and no visible cracks or material loss. Mechanically fine. Bore is heavily frosted with visible rifling.
