By 1973, when he reinvented Damascus steel, W.F. "Bill" Moran Jr. had already been handcrafting knives for 25 years. His ability to craft high-end custom-made knives earned him a reputation as one of the most well-known modern bladesmiths of his time. "The Father of Modern Damascus" would go on to found the American Bladesmith Society and be inducted into the Blade Magazine Hall of Fame in 1986 and the ABS Bladesmithing Hall of Fame in 1996. 6 - 1/2" blade and 11 - 1/4" in overall length with file worked forge twisted steel quillon and handle with circular file worked pillow pommel. Handle is silver brazed to blade tang. Marked on ricasso with "F. MORAN" partial maker mark. CONDITION: Excellent with blade bright and minor handling marks. Grip is in matching condition with light freckling on pommel.
