Side by side English style hammerless 12 gauge game gun made by Edward Lang, 89 Wigmore Street, London, circa 1881 to 1887. Guns made by this maker were traditionally outsourced and marked "LANG", with this one having the rare "EDWARD LANG" marking most likely finished from an in-the-white purchased gun, possibly one made by Westley Richards. Damascus 30" Nitro proofed steel barrels with smooth concave maker marked rib with bead front sight, extractors, fixed Improved Cylinder and Improved Cylinder chokes, and chambers that gauge 2 - 3/4". Case hardened boxlock action with light floral full coverage engraving, double triggers, automatic safety, and blued floorplate. Checkered walnut English grip style stock with smooth blued steel buttplate and matching checkered walnut splinter forearm with friction release. Comes with extensive documentation on maker and measurements. CONDITION: 70% original Damascus finish fading to brown patina with light edge wear. Reblued floorplate, trigger guard, and buttplate. Light marks on barrels with some light usage scratches. 10% case colors with most in protected areas with wear on carry areas. Original looking hand rubbed finish with light usage dings and marks some in checkering. Excellent bores and mechanics with tight lockup. DLM
