Receiver is marked at breech "N.J." and "1 / F" indicating ownership by New Jersey. Otherwise standard issue with 32 - 5/8" blued barrel with "V / P / (Eagle Head)" proof chambered for .45-70 and fitted with "R" marked rifle rear sight. Low arch breech block marked "US / MODEL / 1873". Lockplate marked with federal eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / 1873". Full length walnut stock mounted with 2 spring retained barrel bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and a "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Very good. Portions of arsenal reapplied finish are retained with large areas drifting to a dark patina. Stocks have been cleaned, with markings no longer visible. Good bore displaying strong rifling. Mechanically fine.
