Manufactured in 1883 in full military configuration. Standard length blued barrel chambered in .45-70 with "V / P / (Eagle Head) / P" proofs, blade front sight, and rifle rear sight. Case hardened low arch breech block marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1873". Blued lock plate bears standard Springfield markings with federal eagle motif. Full length walnut stock stamped with "SWP / 1882" cartouche and encircled "P" firing proof. Standard blued steel mounts. CONDITION: Very fine. The vast majority of arsenal applied finishes are retained with some freckling and areas thinning to a gray patina, largely on the mounts. Stock has some light impressions with markings legible. Excellent bright bore displaying sharp rifling. Crisp mechanics.
