Standard length National Armory Bright finished barrel chambered in .50-70 mounted with a blade front sight and ladder rear. High arched breech block dated "1870" over an eagle head with crossed arrows proof and "US". Musket lock plate dated "1863". Walnut stock marked opposite the lock plate with 4 script cartouches, including 2 for Erskine Allin. Iron mounts include 2 spring retained barrel bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel remains bright with some light patina. Hardened lock and breech block assembly exhibit mottled gray patinas. Stock has some scattered impressions with a few deeper gouges. Cartouches partially legible. Strong bright bore. Crisp mechanics. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel and receiver.
