1 of approximately 3,200 1B variation Sharps pepperbox pistols made circa the 1860s. Pistol features a polish blued fluted 2 - 1/2" 4 barrel cluster chambered in .22 rimfire with brass pin front sight. Nickel plated brass frame. Fit with a lovely set of checkered ivory grips. Housed in a period French fitted black wood case with burgundy liner and ivory compartment lid, the case lid decorated with a carved border, brass wire, and a central brass escutcheon. CONDITION: Excellent. Vast majority of the factory blue is retained on the barrels with some toning. Frame retains nearly all of its brilliant nickel finish with handling marks and very minor spots of loss. Grips are very fine with sharp checkering and a pleasing mellow patina. Strong bores and fine mechanics. Matching numbers observed on frame and barrel. Case is very good with some scattered marks and a portion of the brass wire on the lid coming loose.
