Colman is not recorded in Stockel but an included copy of the 1847 Boston Almanac lists Colman at 11 Water. Barrel in 2 stages separated by a wedding ring. Octagonal about the breech before faceting to decahexagonal just before wedding ring. "6" on top flat of octagonal section. Small blade front sight. Ramrod with sheet brass wrapped tip feeds directly into a reinforced mouth with a spearpoint finial. Flat flint lock with swan neck cock, unbridled pan cover, and friction frizzen. "H. COLMAN / BOSTON" marked under pan, with light line engraving. Interior of lock shows good age while exterior was resurfaced and rehabilitated when gun was reconverted from percussion. Weld visible around touchhole. Full length stock with pins retaining barrel. Iron trigger guard with light engraving. CONDITION: Barrel has some chemical browning and bright metal visible at the woodline. Lock has been converted to flintlock and was rehabilitated at that time. Stock has some handling marks and a well executed repair around back half of the lock, probably from a mainspring kicking, along with associated handling marks and one strike on right side of butt.
