1 of only 564 Model 1935/06 Lugers manufactured by under contract for the Portuguese Guarda Nacional Republicana (Republican National Guard) in 1935. The receiver is stamped with the intertwined "GNR" monogram, with the left side bearing a double crowned "U" commercial proof, which is also present on the underside of the barrel. Toggle is properly stamped with Mauser's small 9-stave banner logo. Major metal components are blued, while some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, barrel, receiver, breechblock, as well as the toggles. Magazine is a Imperial German period replacement. This example is accompanied by an original Portuguese brown leather holster that is stamped "G N R/ 1936" on the rear and contains its original pin punch tool, and oiler/cleaning rod. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to brown and gray patinas (mainly on the barrel and grip straps), as well as some spots of discoloration from cleaned oxidation. Strawed components are very good overall, showing varying degrees of wear and some age related discoloration. Ejector is in-the-white. Very bright bore, exhibiting some spots of mild pitting and retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and a few scattered nicks and minor impressions, but are otherwise fine. Holster leather is malleable, exhibiting age related cracking and crazing overall. Pin punch tool sleeve exhibits a hole, but otherwise appears serviceable. A very nice example and an extremely rare Mauser Model 1935/06 "GNR" Luger.
