Standard issue 32 - 5/8" blued barrel with "V / P / (Eagle Head)" proof, chambered for .45-70, and fitted with "R" marked graduated rear rifle sight. Low arch breech block marked "US / MODEL / 1873". Blued side plate marked with federal eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD". Full length walnut stock marked with script "SWP / 1884" cartouche and circled "P" proof at wrist. Stock mounts include 2 "U" marked spring retained barrel bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and a "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel retains significant portions of its armory applied blued finish with other metal components exhibiting a silvery patina with some evidence of cleaned, older oxidation. Stock is very good as cleaned. Markings are legible. Good bore. Mechanically fine.
