Only 5002 Starr carbines were manufactured as cartridge arms chambered in .52 rimfire, with 3000 received by the government by the end of the Civil War in April 1865. Standard configuration with 21" round barrel, blade front sight, and 2-position rear sight. Falling block action with saddle ring. The plain walnut forend is retained by a single barrel band. Walnut stock has carved "HM" initials and a iron butt plate. CONDITION: Good exhibiting an honest aged brown patina with cleaned pinprick oxidation throughout. Stocks have a dark appearance with period wear and impressions. Very good bore. Mechanically fine.
