A classic large American-made spear point Bowie knife with round hardwood handle and German silver mountings. Knife is just under 16" overall, measures 1 - 1/2” wide at the thickest point, and its 11" blade is finely ground from thick stock. Original black leather scabbard shows great patina and fits knife well. This is a classic and high quality knife circa 1850-1870 that could have been carried as late as the Civil War. CONDITION: The blade is very good with scattered erosion and minor pitting. Retains original dimensions with original polish. The scabbard is also good to very good with minor aging. The polished hardwood (possibly oak) grips are excellent.
