Lot consists of: (A) Stag handled Sheffield English Bowie knife marked "GEO WOLSTENHOLM I*XL" on the ricasso. Most likely made for American Civil War market. Total length is 12 - 1/2" with an 8" blade. Left hand flat panel below spine has banner that reads: "THE REAL IXL KNIFE / NONE ARE GENUINE BUT THOSE / MARKED I XL". Under that marking is a series of stamped mounted hunters with rifles and hounds. German silver cross guard with silver pommel cap. (B) Large 12 - 1/2" Bowie knife with slab bone grips. Blade measures 7 - 3/4" with riccaso is marked: "JOSEPH / ALLEN & SON / SHEFFIELD / ENGLAND". German silver cross guard. CONDITION: Both knives are very good with the Wolstenholm showing some nicks and heavy wear to blade.
