Circa 1880-1900 classic western style pipe tomahawk with brass head. Measures 20" overall length with a 7" head and a 2 - 3/4" cutting edge. Haft is heavily file branded and has been drilled for smoking. Brass head shows great unpolished patina and is cast with sharp features in the form of chevrons and shoulder molding. For similar example see "Indian Tomahawks and Frontiersman Belt Axes" by Daniel Hartzler and James Knowles pgs.182, Fig. 33. CONDITION: Solid overall with head tight to gasket.
