Type 99 bolt action sniper rifle manufactured at the Nagoya arsenal during World War II. The receiver is stamped with Kanji characters denoting the serial number below a ground Chrysanthemum over the chamber, with Nagoya's arsenal insignia and the serial number stamped on the receiver bridge. Metal components are blued, with the stock and handguard being standard beechwood. The left side of the receiver is mounted with a dovetail mount and a non-matching 4x scope. The rear barrel band retains its monopod attachment, and the rear sight retains its anti-aircraft wings. CONDITION: Metal components retain good amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of pitting and surface oxidation and areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to gray and brown patinas. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered ding and marks, with a few larger impressions overall. The scope mount spring screw has broken and retains only half its head. The scope's exterior shows areas of flaking and some wear from handling and storage, but it is otherwise fine. The optic retains a sharp image, with some minor spotting that does not interfere with the reticule.
