Papa Nambu manufactured at Tokyo & Electric factory between 1916-1923. The frame is stamped "TGE" within a circle over the chamber, with Kanji characters denoting the model designation on the right above the serial number and Kanji characters on the left denoting "Army Type" (though the Army never adopted the Papa Nambu). The grip frame recess bears 2 partially 2nd Naval Contract inspection proofs. The pistol has been entirely professionally restored. The frame and barrel exhibit a deep blue finish, various smaller components are strawed, and the rear sight assembly is nitre blued. The frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, barrel extension, locking block, recoil spring guide, cocking knob, bolt, and firing pin. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as professionally restored, with major metal components retaining nearly all of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of pitting that are mainly on the grip frame below the grips, and retaining strong machining marks overall. Strawed components are excellent, with the magazine release button exhibiting wear and mild age-related discoloration on the right side. The left grip screw exhibits a gray patina with some age-related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting spots of surface oxidation, as well as some areas of pitting, but otherwise retains good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing overall, with the right panel bearing a crack that has been repaired with adhesive at one point in time. An exceptionally attractive, professionally restored Tokyo Gas & Electric Papa Nambu.
