Model 1906 Navy Luger manufactured by DWM for the Imperial German Navy. The receiver is appropriately blank over the chamber, with crown and "(Crown)/ M" proofs on the left side. Additional crown proofs are on the barrel's left side and the breechblock's left side. The receiver's left side has had its original lower "GESICHERT" marking ground, with the upper position properly engraved with an irregular "Gesichert" safety marking. The rear grip strap is "WW / 5200", indicating issue to the Wilhelmshaven dockyard. Major metal components are rust blued; some smaller components are straw or nitre blued. The frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. The lower assembly matches itself (except for the sideplate), and the upper assembly matches itself. Grips and magazines are unnumbered. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas and scattered spots of mild surface oxidation and mild surface-related pitting. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear, with worn areas exhibiting age-related discoloration spots. Bore exhibits consistent moderate pitting and good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing and scattered handling marks, with the left panel exhibiting a glued repair to the rear of the safety lever.
