Standard configuration P.08 manufactured by Mauser clandestinely in 1935 for the German military. The receiver is stamped with the "G" date code over the chamber, with faint Mauser arsenal proofs on the right. Toggle bears Mauser's clandestine "S/42" manufacturer code. Major metal components are blued, while some smaller parts are strawed or nitre blued. The frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, trigger, safety lever & bar, barrel, receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, and grips. Sideplate has been renumbered to match at one time. This example is accompanied by a 1936 dated Karl Bocker brown leather holster containing an unmarked loading tool and an unmarked magazine. CONDITION: Major metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning, showing through to gray and brown patinas, with mild surface oxidation and mild surface pitting present overall. Grip straps are mainly brown, exhibiting moderate brown surface-level oxidation. Strawed components retain traces of their original finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina with age-related discoloration overall. Bright bore, exhibiting very light pitting and strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing but retain good definition, exhibiting scattered nicks and marks from handling and storage. The leather holster is malleable, exhibiting scattered handling marks, some very mild age-related cracking, and some minor crazing spots.
