Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor made at Springfield Armory in 1891. 32" round rifled steel barrel in .45-70 with pinned blade front sight, Buffington rear sight, and "VP / (Eagle)" proofs. Gun has rod bayonet, walnut military stock with "71 / 213" and "C / 63" rack numbers, "SWP / 1891" inspector marks, and steel trapdoor butt compartment. Low arch 1884 marked breech block with lock marked with Federal Eagle and "U.S. Springfield". Original hammer is broken and comes with replacement. CONDITION: Overall poor with lightly rusted metal. Wood has seen hard use with many dings and scratches. Good mechanics with pitted bore.
