Very desirable and in pristine condition Colt Frontier Six Shooter in an original Colt factory pink picture box. This gun left the factory as a .44/40 with a 4 - 3/4" barrel, blued finish, and stocks were not listed. It was shipped to C.W. Hackett Hardware Company in St. Paul, Minnesota, on December 13, 1895, in a shipment of 3 guns. It has a case color frame and hammer. Blue barrel, cylinder, and grip straps. It has fire blued small parts. Two line barrel address on top of the barrel "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Then it has the roll die caliber designation on the left of the barrel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". There is a "V 44" on the bottom of the barrel. Two line patent dates on the left of the frame, "PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871 / JULY 2, 72 JAN 19, 75". Next to the patent dates is a Rampant Colt logo in a circle. Matching serial numbers observed on the frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and inside the grips. Assembly number 27 on the inside of the loading gate. Two piece checkered hard rubber grips with a Rampant Colt logo at the top of each grip. The left grip has turned a chocolate brown color. Comes in an original Colt box from that era, numbered on the bottom to a different gun. The top depicts a Rampant Colt and a Single Action Army. It has an over label that says, "THE WITHIN REVOLVER IS NOT ADAPTED FOR SMOKELESS POWDER". CONDITION: This gun remains in stunning original condition. It retains virtually all of the original factory applied blue finish, with just a couple of slight handling and storage marks. Vibrant case colors on the frame and hammer. Bright fire blue screws and trigger. The screws have not been molested. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. Sharp and crisp checkering on the grips. There are no chips or cracks on the grips. The hinged box is in fantastic original condition with minimal wear to the top label. There is some chipping and staining on all of the labels. Someone has written on the top of the box a little. The box has some edge wear but is a very solid box for being 125+ years old. This gun would be a fine addition to any private or museum collection.
