According to the Colt Factory Archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .38 with a 4" barrel, blue finish, ivory grips, grade 2 engraving, and monogrammed on the side plate with the initials "CS". It was shipped to G.W. Shroyer & Co. in Dayton, Ohio, on October 17, 1927, in a one gun shipment. It also indicates a hand-finished action, checkered trigger, and backstrap. It was processed on Colt factory order number 123614/1. Two-line address with patent dates on top of the barrel: "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / PAT'D AUG. 5, 1884. JULY 4. 1905. OCT.5, 1926" And on the left side of the barrel is "COLT POLICE POSITIVE .38". Next to the rampant Colt logo on the frame is "C-S / 1927". It is engraved with a floral design with a punch dot background. It comes in its original Colt box with the serial number written on the bottom of the box. The box has an overlabel that reads "ENGRAVED". CONDITION: The gun is in like new condition with virtually all of the original factory-applied blue finish. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. Grips fit superbly, and they are showing some aging. The box is solid with no seam splits. The end labels show some chipping.
