Classic example of a San Francisco made gambler's or gentleman's compact vest dagger, circa 1870s. Dagger has a double-edged spear point blade, properly stamped on the ricasso "M.PRICE / SAN FRAN." Dagger has an incurved shank, with a nicely shaped ebony handle with riveted cap. Retains the original German silver sheath, with a friction fit molded shoulder rim. 4 - 3/4" overall with a 2 - 1/2" blade. For a similar example see Bernard Levine's "Knifemakers of Old San Francisco" (1977) pg. 120. CONDITION: Very good with typical cleaning scratches visible if held in the right light. Some light cleaned pitted areas near the ricasso, and tip is sharp. Rare in any condition.
